Working Paper Series of Applied Linguistics
by CRLLS

About

The Centre for Research on Linguistics and Language Studies (CRLLS) is dedicated to providing the research infrastructure and ongoing support necessary for cutting-edge work in linguistics and language studies. The Centre aims to serve as a central hub for critical resources in Applied Linguistics, with a particular focus on supporting postgraduate students and early-career academics in publishing their work in peer-reviewed journals.

To further this mission, CRLLS has recently launched an online Working Papers Series, titled "The Working Papers Series of Applied Linguistics." This initiative encourages contributions from early-career scholars, as well as PhD and MA students affiliated with the Centre's member faculties. The series is designed to help authors refine their papers before submitting them to peer-reviewed journals.

Submissions to the series will receive a constructive review from an editorial board, supported by Centre members. Authors will also benefit from literature suggestions and complimentary grammar editing services provided by highly qualified copy editors, as arranged by the committee, to ensure clarity and professionalism. Additionally, guidance will be offered by members who have experience publishing in the target journals, including insights into the types of topics or themes that are likely to be accepted or recommended for review.

Upon the author's request, the Working Papers Series can upload an extended abstract of the paper, typically around 1,000 words. Readers interested in the full content may be directed to contact the author for a complete copy of the working paper. The full working paper submission should be at least 4,000 words in length.

The Working Papers Series will be guided by the general theme of Applied Linguistics, with recommended topics focusing on comparative cultures of care for the publication of the first two issues. Recommended topics include:

  • Narratives of care cultures
  • Discourse analysis and social care
  • Classroom discourse of care
  • Pedagogy of care
  • Linguistics of care
  • Language, care, and technology
  • Care in social interactions
  • Language education and care
